We love that more and more brands are being more creative with their uses of social media for marketing and educating customers. We just wish Instagram had a Droid app!

We think it’s great that sites like Wikipedia and Reddit are getting involved in the SOPA/PIPA protest. Its an important debate, but these bills go too far.
We love Shazam, even though it leads to potential embarrassment…wait, I like Tears for Fears?! This is an interesting move for Shazam - making TV advertisements Shazam-able. It’ll be interesting to see how popular this is during the Super Bowl.
Before social media, you never really had to think about whether not you should be friends with someone based on their tastes in brands, news consumption, religion and anything else under the sun. But now, between Facebook and Google +, not to mention the myriad of other social applications that keep us connected at all times (Twitter, FourSquare), our friends give us unsolicited advice on brands and more, our friends dictate our news consumption, our friends effect our search results. We’re not saying you should ditch the friends that don’t agree with you on all the issues and all your brand choices, but maybe we should be thinking twice before we friend some of those old high school buddies.

This new type of corp can has to consider issues beyond shareholders when making business decisions, including the environment, consumers and the community. California has finally legally adopted Benefit Corporations and Patagonia was one of the first to switch over.
